July's Update

A lot has happened in the past 9 months or however long it is since November! We have first fix electrics and plumbing done - a lot of wires and pipes! Plastering started the day after the May bank holiday and is finished. We have painted the upstairs and are about to paint the downstairs. Fibreglassing in the bathrooms and laundry room is finished. Second fix plumbing has started and electrics is starting in the next couple of weeks. Flooring is about to go down in bathrooms and the living room. The kitchen is on its way and meant to arrive in 2 weeks. Doors are almost ordered. The stone masons are back and are doing a fantastic job outside on the garden wall.

This picture is before the plastering and after the plasterboard, we eventually see what the stove looks like when it is inset! This is the living room side.

This is in the sitting room side and the walls had literally just been plastered.

Looking up the stairs from the hall, all plastered.

This is K's room, plastered and painted, this is the sleeping loft.

The laundry room with the water tank and all the paint buckets. It is finished painting too.

This is the two younger girls' room, both are purple, very purple!

Very happy with the bathroom, the colour is called bamboo leaf and it really is a bamboo colour, it matches the fibreglass perfectly, phew!

This is our shower, the walls outside look pink but are more a purple/plum colour. We have a shower head!

November's Update

Lots has happened up the road at the cottage (this names seems a little inappropriate at the moment!)

The outside drying area is under construction at the moment. It's now up to wall plate level ready for the floor joists.  the 3 youngest members of the family have already moved up to witness protection in the new house. Meadow is in camouflage in this picture! This is the playroom door.

This is just to the left of the playroom door, this is the lock up for the rubbish etc. It will also hold the water tanks on top of it.

We have inside partition walls. This is the view as you walk up the stairs and look down the hall to the bathroom.
This is standing at the top of the stairs and looking right into the guest room and the landing.

At the top of the stairs this is the first bedroom on the left. The insulation is all lambswool and feels lovely.

The laundry room

The second bedroom (beside the bathroom)

The much debated bathroom, we eventually have a final decision made on the layout and have the sanitary ware bought. Got a great deal at xchange auction house in sandyford.

Hard to see this but this is the ensuite in the master bedroom

Easier to make out here. The door into the shower is the one on an angle and there will be a half wall between the shower and the toilet and sink. The door into the toilet and sink is at the far end beside the windows.

The walk in wardrobe

This is upstairs a bit further. We got a stairs from someone who was throwing it out and it goes up the attic which is partitioned a bit and the room you can see here straight ahead will be an office space. The part you can barely just to the left of the wall is for storage.

This is the opposite side, it will have the heat recovery ventilation system and possibly a snooker table. Through the partitions is the sleeping platform in the girls' bedroom.

This is looking down the two stairs

The un-apltly named cat, snow white, 1 guess who named her.

Autumn Update

Oh dear! I knew it had been a while since I had updated this blog but hadn't realised it was over 3 months - oops! sorry V.

Well a lot has happen since June, the outside is finished and the partitions have started inside. The caravan has gone and we have a fantastic new play/treehouse. Let me show you loads of photos to illustrate.

The scaffolding came down on the Friday we left for holidays in July. It looks like a house!
This is the front door and porch

The other side of the house: the good sitting room and the spare room are the two square box windows and then the long window/door with 3 panes is the living/dining area. Above that is our bedroom balconey.

This caravan was on site when we got it, it is a little worse for the wear and really dirty but in fairly good nick. The kids were playing in it when we were up on site and had some of their toys there. But a friend of ours decided he could make better use of it than us and we got a garden shed off a friend of mine that was upgrading.

This space is where the treehouse is now.

We used the slide from our old climbing frame that we got from jumbletown years ago and needed a new home in hammond lane this year.

The steps up onto the platform.

The first partition! It is the wall between the first bedroom at the top of the stairs and the laundry room. We have gorgeous sheep's wool insulation for the walls, it is better sound proofing and Mark got a good price in work for it. It feels so nice!

That's it for now, will go take a lot more pictures soon and update again (hopefully before 3 months!)
